Mission of the AAIB – to promote aviation safety through the conduct of independent and objectified investigations into air accidents and incidents that is in line with the Convention on International Civil Aviation.
As an independent investigation authority, the Air Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) of Singapore is responsible for the investigation of air accidents and serious incidents in Singapore involving both local and foreign commercial aircraft. The AAIB also participates in overseas investigations of accidents and serious incidents involving Singapore aircraft or aircraft that is managed by a Singapore operator.
When carrying out its investigations, the AAIB will gather, record and analyse all the available information on the accidents and incidents; determine the causes and/or validity of the contributing factors; identify the possible safety issues; draw up safety recommendations to address these safety issues and complete the investigation report.
