The Beacon Scholarship is an umbrella talent development programme among agencies within the Ministry of Transport (MOT), comprising the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), the Land Transport Authority (LTA) and the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).
With the Beacon Scholarship, scholars can look forward to the prospect of exciting and meaningful careers in the Ministry and its agencies with possible inter-agency postings matched by an organisational commitment to develop talent.
What the Beacon Scholarship Offers
Long-term meaningful careers in the Ministry and its Statutory Boards – We recognise diversity of talent, strengths and interests. Therefore, we create multiple pathways for scholars to develop and chart their careers along the differentiated paths. This includes possible inter-sector postings matched by an organisational commitment to develop talent.
Upward career mobility and advancement - The transport sector is a rapidly expanding industry which offers diverse and promising career opportunities.
Conducive environment to nurture talent – We have a ministry-wide Talent Programme, where talent is systematically identified, groomed and deployed. This programme emphasises quality career development and personal growth through fulfilling job rotation; courses; attachments; and Amoeba team project assignment.
Opportunities to shape public policy - A career in the public service provides ample opportunities to shape policies that would promote Singapore’s national interests and the general well-being of Singaporeans. Our scholars will find themselves at the forefront of dealing with challenges that will have a national impact and that will add meaningfulness to their careers.
The Beacon Scholarship Logo

The logo is a graphic representation of a beacon that illuminates brightly. The value proposition of the Beacon Scholarship is captured in the distinct burst of energy represented by the colourful and creative rays of the logo.
The colours used are the corporate colours of MOT and its agencies – CAAS, LTA and MPA. Lime green is used to portray the beacon itself both as an inspirational reference point and the source of guiding light.
The overall look projects a star-like symbol which captures the attributes of
Prestige, Promise and
Progression of the Beacon Scholarship. The star itself symbolises the distinction and well-rounded accomplishments of Beacon Scholars.
