To further improve the connectivity of the public transport system to make transfers more seamless and convenient, a distance-based fare structure has been introduced to remove the current fare penalty associated with bus-rail or bus-bus transfers. The new fare structure will be implemented on 3 July 2010.

Under the distance-based fare structure, commuters will pay based on the total distance traveled from origin to destination, irrespective of the transfers they make.
